Holy Spirit High School and Egg Harbor Township Crew Teams Dominate at Garden State Scholastic Rowing Championships
Holy Spirit High School and Egg Harbor Township girls continue to dominate at the Garden State Scholastic Rowing Championships
The Holy Spirit High School girls varsity four and the Egg Harbor Township girls lightweight four showcased their exceptional skills and determination at the Garden State Scholastic Rowing Championships on Saturday. The one-day regatta, known as “States,” featured 38 categories and took place on the Cooper River in Camden County.
The Atlantic City girls junior eight displayed their dominance by winning their division by over 47 seconds. Additionally, both the Egg Harbor Township girls and boys novice eights emerged victorious in their respective races.
The Holy Spirit girls varsity four claimed victory in a thrilling final, finishing in 5 minutes, 52.56 seconds. The team, consisting of Gwen Amalfitano, Taya Anderson, Alexandra Solari, Allison Lee, and coxswain Gia Rynkiewicz, outperformed defending champions Blair Academy to secure the win.
In another exciting race, the Egg Harbor Township girls lightweight four emerged triumphant, edging out Montclair High School by a mere 0.40 seconds. The team, led by Lily Winkler, Izzy Patel, Gianna Middleton, Rachel Kent, and coxswain Talia DeNafo, showcased their determination and skill on the water.
With these impressive victories, both Holy Spirit High School and Egg Harbor Township continue to solidify their positions as powerhouses in the world of scholastic rowing. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on these talented teams as they aim for further success in upcoming regattas.
