Hawaii Baseball Team Spoils UC San Diego’s Weekend with Road Series Win
The Hawaii baseball team continues to make waves as they spoil the plans of their opponents. In a dominating performance, the Rainbow Warriors secured a 14-6 victory over defending champion UC San Diego at Triton Ballpark in La Jolla, Calif.
The Rainbow Warriors showcased their offensive prowess with a total of 19 hits, highlighted by home runs from Kyson Donahue and Austin Machado. Every player in the lineup contributed with a hit and a run scored, demonstrating the depth and strength of the team.
With this win, UH improves to a 24-15 record in the Big West conference, positioning themselves as a formidable force in the league. They will look to complete their first road sweep of the season as they face UCSD once again on Sunday.
Pitcher Randy Abshier delivered a solid performance on the mound, lasting 6 1/3 innings to earn the win. The bullpen duo of Danny Veloz and Connor Harrison closed out the game, with Harrison securing his first save of the year.
Offensively, Jake Tsukada, Elijah Ickes, and Matthew Miura led the charge with multiple hits and RBIs, while Donahue and Machado added to their home run tally for the season.
Despite the loss, UC San Diego put up a fight with standout performances from Nick Costello, Michael Crossland, and Delshaun Lanier.
