Indian Cycling Team Coach Kevin Sireau Confident of Olympic Success in 2028
New Delhi [India], April 26 (ANI): Two-time Olympic medalist Kevin Sireau of France, the current head coach of the Indian cycling team, is optimistic about the team’s chances of securing medals for the country at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Sireau, who was appointed to the position by the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) in January this year, believes that the current crop of Indian cyclists has the potential to make a mark on the international stage. He specifically mentioned riders like Ronaldo Singh, Rojit Singh, and David Beckham as promising talents who have already shown their potential by winning at the junior level.
The Indian team has already made significant achievements, with the quartet of Esow Alben, Ronaldo, Rojit, and Jemsh Singh securing a historic men’s team sprint gold at the 2019 World Junior Track Cycling Championship in Frankfurt. Additionally, India’s performance at the Asian Track Cycling Championships in 2022 was commendable, with Ronaldo becoming the first Indian to win an individual silver at the event.
Despite a lack of medals at the recent edition of the Asian Championships held in New Delhi, Sireau remains confident in the team’s abilities. He has laid out a roadmap for success at the 2028 LA Olympics and is focused on preparing the cyclists for upcoming events, including the world championships in October.
Sireau has also praised the junior cyclists, such as Sarita Kumari and Wattaba Meitei, for their impressive performances at recent competitions. The athletes themselves have acknowledged the positive impact of Sireau’s coaching, noting the changes in training methods, nutrition, and recovery strategies that have improved their performance.
With a clear plan in place and a dedicated team of talented cyclists, the Indian cycling team under Kevin Sireau’s guidance is poised for success in the coming years. Fans can look forward to seeing the team’s progress and potential medal-winning performances at the 2028 Olympics.
