Hwang Hee-chan Scores 11 League Goals in a Single Season for the First Time since 2019-20
Wolves secured a crucial victory against Luton Town, ending their six-game winless run in the Premier League and putting pressure on the relegation-threatened side. Hwang Hee-chan was the hero of the day, scoring his 11th league goal of the season, marking his best tally since the 2019-20 season when he played for Salzburg in Austria.
The South Korea forward opened the scoring late in the first half with a deflected shot that left Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski helpless. Wolves continued their dominance in the second half, with Toti Gomes doubling their lead just five minutes after the break.
Despite Luton pulling one back through Carlton Morris, Wolves held on for the win, moving up to 10th in the league table. Manager Gary O’Neil praised the impact of having key attackers like Hwang and Matheus Cunha back in the team, highlighting the positive progress the club has made this season.
On the other hand, Luton’s manager Rob Edwards faces a tough challenge in the final three games of the season as his team struggles to secure points. With only one win in their last 13 league matches, Luton’s hopes of avoiding relegation are dwindling. Morris was a lone bright spot for Luton, but their lack of service and poor defensive record have put them in a precarious position.
As the season nears its end, Wolves look to finish strong and secure a top-half finish, while Luton must fight for survival in the remaining games to avoid the drop.
