Bradford City Wins 19 League Two Matches in 2023-24 Season
Bradford City ended their League Two campaign on a high note with a resounding 4-1 victory over Newport County. Despite the win, the Bantams narrowly missed out on the play-offs, finishing in ninth place, just one point off the top seven.
Calum Kavanagh and Andy Cook were the heroes for Bradford as they both found the back of the net with headers before half-time to give Graham Alexander’s side a comfortable lead. Bobby Pointon and Jamie Walker added to the scoreline, while Harry Charlsey managed to pull one back for Newport.
Newport County boss Graham Coughlan expressed his disappointment at his team’s performance, especially in the final stretch of the season where they lost their last eight matches. Coughlan acknowledged the need for improvement and a stronger squad for the upcoming season, with the goal of aiming for promotion.
The match saw Bradford line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Walker, Oyegoke, Platt, and Kelly forming the defense, while Kavanagh and Pointon supported Cook up front. Newport, on the other hand, played in a 5-3-2 formation, with Townsend, Bright, Baker, Sanca, and Jameson at the back.
The game ended with Bradford City emerging victorious, capping off a season where they won an impressive 19 matches in League Two. Despite falling short of their play-off aspirations, the Bantams will look to build on their successes and aim for promotion in the next campaign.
