Baltimore Orioles Set Starting Pitcher for Sunday’s Series Finale

The Baltimore Orioles have made their decision on who will take the mound for Sunday’s series finale against the Oakland Athletics, and it will be Albert Suárez getting the start. This means that John Means will have at least one more rehab start at Triple-A Norfolk before rejoining the team.

Means, who has been working his way back from a forearm injury, has had a mixed bag of results in his five rehab starts so far, with a 0-1 record and a 13.89 ERA. The Orioles have decided to give him one more start to fine-tune his game before bringing him back to the big leagues.

In the meantime, Suárez has been impressive in his two starts since joining the rotation. The 34-year-old right-hander has yet to allow a run in his outings, making him the first pitcher to achieve this feat after not appearing in MLB for five or more years since 1893.

Suárez, who was signed to a minor-league contract in January, has certainly made the most of his opportunity with the Orioles. After not pitching in the Majors since 2017, he has shown that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

With Suárez holding down the fort in the rotation, the Orioles can afford to be cautious with Means and ensure that he is fully ready to return. The emergence of Suárez has been a pleasant surprise for Baltimore, and his performance has certainly given the team a boost as they navigate through the early part of the season. Stay tuned to see how Suárez fares in his next start and when Means will make his much-anticipated return to the Orioles’ rotation.
