Nethra Kumanan secures India’s second Paris Olympics quota in sailing
Tokyo 2020 Olympian Nethra Kumanan has made India proud once again by securing the country’s second Paris Olympics quota in sailing. Competing in the women’s dinghy (ILCA 6) at the Last Chance Regatta in Hyeres, France, Nethra managed to secure a fifth-place finish after scoring 67 points in the overall leaderboard.
Despite narrowly missing out on a podium finish, Nethra’s performance was enough to earn India a ticket to the Paris Olympics. As the top performer among all sailors from the Emerging Nations Program (ENP) who were yet to secure a quota, Nethra’s achievement is a testament to her skill and determination.
The Last Chance Regatta is a crucial event for sailors looking to secure their spot at the 2024 Olympics. With only a limited number of quotas available, competition is fierce, and Nethra’s fifth-place finish is a testament to her talent and hard work.
Nethra, who also competed at the Tokyo Olympics and other prestigious events, has been a consistent performer on the international sailing circuit. Her success at the Last Chance Regatta is a testament to her dedication to the sport and her desire to represent India on the world stage.
With Nethra’s achievement, India now has two sailing quotas for the 2024 Olympics, with Tokyo Olympian Vishnu Saravanan securing the first quota earlier this year. The future looks bright for Indian sailing, and Nethra’s success is a testament to the growing talent and potential in the country’s sailing community.
Congratulations to Nethra Kumanan on her impressive performance at the Last Chance Regatta, and best of luck to her as she prepares to represent India at the Paris Olympics.
