Nevada Splits Doubleheader with Air Force, Continues Series at CSU Pueblo’s Rawlings Field
Nevada Athletics had a mixed day at Air Force on Friday, as they split the doubleheader with the Falcons. The Wolf Pack started off strong, finishing off the continuation of a suspended game from March 30 with a 7-3 victory. However, they couldn’t carry that momentum into the second game, falling 8-3 to Air Force.
In the first game, Nevada held a 5-2 lead when the game resumed, and they were able to maintain their advantage to secure the win. Pitcher Peyton Fosher was instrumental in the victory, striking out six and allowing just one run on one hit. Offensively, Jackson Waller and Michael Ball each drove in three runs to lead the Wolf Pack to victory.
The second game saw Air Force come from behind to secure the win. After Nevada took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning, Air Force rallied to score three runs and take the lead. They then added four more runs in the seventh inning to seal the victory. Despite the loss, Nolan Wilson had a strong performance for Nevada, going 3-for-4 in the game.
Overall, Nevada’s record now stands at 18-21 overall and 11-11 in Mountain West play. Air Force, on the other hand, improved to 19-22 overall and 11-8 in conference action. The two teams will continue their series on Saturday at CSU Pueblo’s Rawlings Field, with the Wolf Pack looking to bounce back and secure a series win.
