Leap Gymnastics Partners with Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association to Host First Gymnastics Championship Under New Competitive Framework
Leap Gymnastics, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA), is set to host the first Gymnastics Championship under the newly developed competitive framework on May 11 & 12. This initiative marks a significant step towards revolutionizing the sport of gymnastics in India.
Leap Gymnastics, an organization dedicated to promoting sports development in India, has been instrumental in training over 1,000 gymnastics enthusiasts in Mumbai over the past 18 months. With a vision to train and develop more than 10,000 gymnasts across the country in the next five years, Leap Gymnastics aims to create a strong foundation for aspiring athletes to compete at global championships, including the Olympics 2032.
Gymnastics is recognized as one of the best foundation sports for physical literacy, making it crucial for India to enhance participation levels in sports and physical activities. The newly developed competitive framework, spearheaded by International Gymnastics Expert Kym Dowdell, focuses on providing a structured pathway for high-performance sports, coach and judge development, and international collaborations to elevate the standard of gymnastics in India.
The partnership between Leap Gymnastics and Kym Dowdell aims to increase participation and improve the performance levels of Indian gymnasts. The Competitive Framework consists of three core parts – Fundamental, Performance, and High-Performance pathways, each with detailed technical requirements and evaluation processes. Additionally, video-based educational tools have been developed to aid in the development of fundamental skills and compulsory routines.
With a strong belief in India’s untapped potential in gymnastics, Leap Gymnastics is committed to creating a robust sports ecosystem that will nurture and develop world-class gymnasts. The upcoming Gymnastics Championship promises to showcase the talent and dedication of gymnasts across the country, setting the stage for a bright future in the sport.
