Hawaii Baseball Team Continues to Thrive in Extra-Inning Games

The Hawaii baseball team continues to showcase their resilience and ability to win the long ones, as they defeated defending Big West champion UC San Diego in a thrilling 4-3 victory on Friday night. The game went into extra innings, where Dallas Duarte came up clutch with a go-ahead hit to left-center in the top of the 10th inning.

This win marks UH’s fifth victory in extra-inning games this season, with an impressive streak of five straight wins after dropping their season opener in 13 innings. Second baseman Stone Miyao also played a crucial role in the victory with a spectacular diving grab in the bottom of the 10th inning, thwarting UCSD’s chances of repeating as BWC regular season champions.

Despite the win, UH still finds themselves out of the conference hunt, but they are making strides with three wins in their last four BWC games. Freshman pitcher Sebastian Gonzalez delivered a solid performance in his first starting nod of the season, going five innings with five strikeouts.

Relievers Alex Giroux, Connor Harrison, and Brayden Marx also stepped up to secure the win, with Marx earning the victory and Danny Veloz notching his second save of the year. The offense was led by Duarte, who had a key triple in the third inning and drove in two runs.
