“Wales make changes for Women’s Six Nations finale against Italy”
In a bid to avoid finishing at the bottom of the Women’s Six Nations table, Wales has made four changes to their lineup ahead of their final match against Italy at the Principality Stadium on Saturday.
With four defeats under their belt, Wales is looking to secure at least a bonus-point win to salvage their campaign. Hannah Bluck will make her first start of the tournament in the center position, while Carys Cox moves to the wing. Jenny Hesketh and Lisa Neumann return to the back line, with Keira Bevan taking the scrum-half spot.
Despite the changes in personnel, the pack remains unchanged with Gwenllian Pyrs, Carys Phillips, and Sisilia Tuipulotu in the front row, and Natalia John and Abbie Fleming as locks. Alex Callender and Alisha Butchers will play as flankers, while Georgia Evans will take the number eight position.
Hannah Jones will captain the side from inside center, with Lleucu George partnering Bevan in the half-backs. Niamh Terry could make her Six Nations debut from the bench, while Kelsey Jones and Nel Metcalfe provide cover in the forward pack.
Head coach Ioan Cunningham emphasized the importance of the upcoming match, stating, “Our focus has been on what we need to do this week. We’re looking forward to the challenge and finishing the tournament on a high.”
With a revamped lineup and renewed determination, Wales will be looking to put on a strong performance against Italy and end their Women’s Six Nations campaign on a positive note.
