Former Indian Women’s Hockey Team goalkeeper, Yogita Bali, has thrown her full support behind Hockey India’s comprehensive efforts to elevate the sport at all levels, particularly with the upcoming National Women’s Hockey League set to kick off in Ranchi, Jharkhand from 30th April to 9th May.

The National Women’s Hockey League 2024-25 is poised to be a game-changer for Indian women’s hockey, showcasing the best talent from the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2024. Yogita Bali, a veteran in the sport, lauded the league as a significant advancement for women’s hockey in India, providing a crucial platform for players to exhibit their skills and gain valuable experience in high-pressure situations.

Yogita emphasized the league’s role as a stepping stone for players eyeing a spot in the prestigious Hockey India League (HIL), stating that it offers a vital training ground for players to assess their abilities and navigate pressure scenarios. She highlighted the importance of young players learning from their senior counterparts, enriching their developmental journey in the sport.

In addition to the league, Hockey India’s commitment to nurturing talent is evident through its grassroots development program, including specialized camps for budding goalkeepers and drag-flickers across the country. Yogita praised the initiative, noting that these camps provide young athletes with the opportunity to learn from experienced former players, fostering a culture of excellence and mentorship.

Looking ahead to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Yogita expressed confidence in the Indian Men’s Hockey Team despite their recent series loss against Australia. She believes that the setback serves as a valuable learning opportunity for the team, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and refine their strategies for the upcoming Olympics.

Overall, Yogita Bali’s endorsement of Hockey India’s initiatives and her optimism for the future of Indian hockey bode well for the sport’s growth and success in the years to come.
