Boys Basketball All-Area Team Announcement and Superlatives
The basketball season has come to a close, and it’s time to honor the standout players and coaches who made a mark on the court this year. The All-Area Team selections have been announced, and there are some impressive names on the list.
In the large schools category, Syriah Daniels from Auburn High was named Player of the Year. Daniels led her team to three Final Four appearances during her varsity career, averaging 20.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. Joining her on the first team are Jabria Lindsey from Central-Phenix City, Brooke Hallman from Auburn High, Naomi Whack from Opelika, Jasmyn Thomas from Smiths Station, and Cooper Watson from Beauregard.
On the small schools side, Takayla Davis from Glenwood was named Player of the Year after helping her team to a state championship with a double-double average of 10.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. Shalexia Little from Springwood, TyKasia Williams from Beulah, Anna Grace Griggs from Glenwood, Nakeriona Heard from Lanett, and Mary Kathryn Harris from Lee-Scott round out the first team.
The Coach of the Year honor went to Charlie Williams from Lanett, who led his team to a 24-4 record. The All-Area Team selections showcase the talent and hard work of these players and coaches throughout the season.
