Matt Hogue Transitions to New Role at CCU: Spearheading Sports Broadcasting Program in Humanities Department
After years of dedicated service to Coastal Carolina University athletics, long-time athletics director Matt Hogue is transitioning into a new role on campus. Hogue, who has been a staple in the Chanticleers’ athletic department since 2014, will be moving over to the Humanities department to spearhead a new broadcasting major program at CCU.
During his tenure as athletics director, Hogue oversaw a period of tremendous success for CCU athletics. Under his leadership, the Chanticleers won the baseball national championship in 2016 and made the transition from FCS to FBS-level football, joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2016. This past fall, the football team secured its second bowl victory with a win at the Hawai’i Bowl.
Hogue’s impact on CCU athletics goes beyond just wins and losses. He has been instrumental in the development of the athletic department, leading the way to 14 conference regular-season championships and 17 conference tournament championships.
President Michael T. Benson praised Hogue for his outstanding work and commitment to Coastal Carolina University, stating that Hogue’s experience and background in sports broadcasting uniquely qualify him to lead the new academic endeavor in the Humanities department.
Hogue’s transition marks the end of an era for CCU athletics, but his legacy will undoubtedly live on. As the university begins the search for a new athletics director, Hogue will continue to serve in his role until the end of the athletic season, all while preparing for his new role in the Humanities department.
Overall, Hogue’s impact on Coastal Carolina University athletics has been profound, and his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
