England’s Amy Cokayne returns for Grand Slam decider against France
In a highly anticipated clash, England will face off against France in the Women’s Six Nations Grand Slam decider on Saturday at Stade Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux. The Red Roses are aiming to secure their third consecutive Grand Slam and sixth successive Women’s Six Nations title.
England will make two injury-enforced changes to their starting lineup, with hooker Amy Cokayne returning from suspension to replace Lark Atkin-Davies, who is out with an ankle injury. Sale’s Morwenna Talling retains her spot in the lineup after lock Rosie Galligan’s late withdrawal due to a thumb injury.
Cokayne, who missed England’s win over Ireland after being sent off in the victory over Scotland, will be looking to make an impact in the crucial match against France. The backline remains unchanged, with the lethal trio of Ellie Kildunne, Abby Dow, and Jess Breach retaining their spots after scoring eight tries against Ireland.
France, on the other hand, make four changes to their starting XV, including the return of former captain Gaelle Hermet at flanker and lock Madoussou Fall, who has been in fine form with two tries in the competition.
With both teams in top form, a thrilling encounter is expected in front of a large crowd at Stade Chaban-Delmas. England head coach John Mitchell is looking forward to the challenge and is confident that his team can deliver in front of a full-capacity stadium.
The Red Roses are undefeated in 28 games in the competition, setting a record for consecutive wins across both the men’s and women’s championships. However, France will be looking to end England’s dominance and secure a victory on home soil. It promises to be a gripping showdown between two of the top teams in women’s rugby.
