Edinburgh cruise past Scarlets to boost play-off hopes in United Rugby Championship

Edinburgh put on a dominant display in the second half to secure a convincing 43-18 victory over Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship clash at Hive Stadium.

Despite a slow start that saw Scarlets take a 15-7 lead at halftime with tries from Tom Rogers and Gareth Davies, Edinburgh rallied in the second half with a flurry of tries from Duhan van der Merwe, Matt Currie, Pierre Schoeman, Mark Bennett, and Bill Mata. Fly-half Healy was on point with his kicking, adding five conversions and a penalty to seal the win for the home side.

The victory sees Edinburgh move up to eighth place in the URC table, boosting their hopes of a top-eight finish. Scarlets, on the other hand, remain in 14th place with only three wins to their name this season.

Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt praised his team’s performance, particularly in the second half where they executed their game plan effectively. He highlighted the improvement in discipline and patience with ball in hand as key factors in their success.

The match also saw Edinburgh secure a bonus point for scoring four tries, a feat they have struggled to achieve this season. The team’s ability to capitalize on their opportunities and finish off scoring chances was evident in their six-try haul against Scarlets.

With the win, Edinburgh remains in contention for a spot in the playoffs, showcasing their potential to compete with the top teams in the URC. The team will look to build on this performance as they aim to secure more crucial victories in the remaining matches of the season.
