JMU Football Spring Transfer Portal Tracker: Departures Update
JMU Football Sees Significant Activity in Spring Transfer Portal
As the spring season approaches, the JMU football team has been making moves in the transfer portal. With several key departures and no new additions as of yet, the Dukes are looking to fill some gaps and make adjustments for the upcoming season.
One notable departure is defensive tackle Tyrique Tucker, who had a solid performance in 2023 with 29 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. With three years of eligibility left, Tucker was expected to be a key player for the Dukes in 2024. His absence will surely be felt on the defensive line.
Running back Sammy Malignaggi and Solomon Vanhorse are also leaving the program. Malignaggi, a backup running back, had limited playing time last season and was unlikely to see much action in 2024. Vanhorse, on the other hand, was a versatile player with over 500 yards in receiving, rushing, and return yards. His departure leaves a gap in the running back rotation.
Other departures include tight end Collin Carroll, offensive lineman Wesley Bostic, wide receiver Nakai Poole, offensive lineman Aaron Gunn, and wide receiver Rykin Maxwell. Each player had their own contributions to the team, and their absence will require the Dukes to find suitable replacements.
With several key players leaving the program, JMU will need to make some strategic moves in the transfer portal to fill these gaps and strengthen their roster for the upcoming season. Fans will be eagerly watching to see who the Dukes bring in to replace these departing players and how they will impact the team in 2024.
