Good Sports Opens in Former McColl’s Shop, Offering Sports Kits, Leisure Meetups, and Pathways to Better Jobs
Good Sports, a new sports shop located inside the former McColl’s shop under Market Gates Shopping Centre, is set to open its doors on Saturday. This exciting venture is a joint enterprise between the club and community project Football Against Dementia, aiming to provide people with sports kits, information on sports and leisure meetups, and pathways to better jobs.
President Jack Jay, still riding high from the Bloater’s Thurlow Nunn Division One league title win, expressed his excitement for the shop’s opening, stating that it marked the beginning of a new era for the club. He highlighted the club’s commitment to improving the lives of people in the town through sports and community initiatives.
Good Sports will not only offer sports equipment, clothes, and books but also house various projects by Football Against Dementia, including employment schemes and community campaigns. The shop will also feature a meeting room for businesses to connect with jobseekers and establish pathways into work.
Director Trevor Saunders emphasized the shop’s holistic approach to improving lives, stating that Good Sports aims to provide information and support to the community. With affordable and even free equipment available, the shop hopes to encourage more people to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
The Great Yarmouth Round Table has already shown their support for Good Sports by donating £2,000 at the shop’s launch. With the backing of the community and local organizations, Good Sports is poised to become a central figure in the town, promoting sports, healthier living, and employment opportunities for all.
