Gareth Bale Joins Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour as Ambassador
Former football star Gareth Bale has found a new passion in golf since retiring from the sport earlier this year. The Welsh icon, known for his incredible skills on the football pitch, has now become an ambassador for NBA legend Steph Curry’s “Underrated Golf” tour.
Bale, 34, announced his new role after sitting courtside for a Golden State Warriors game, where he watched Curry in action. The two sports icons have joined forces to bring the Underrated Golf tour to Europe, with their first event scheduled to take place at the Walton Heath Golf Course in the UK in May.
Known for his love of golf during his football career, Bale has a handicap of just 0.5 and even competed in a pro-am tournament in California last year. His passion for the sport is evident, and he is excited to be a part of Curry’s initiative to grow the game of golf internationally.
In a press release, Bale expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “It’s an honour to join Stephen Curry and his Underrated Golf European Tour as ambassador as they expand their presence internationally this year. My role as an ambassador allows me to fuse my enthusiasm for the sport with my passion for creating multi-faced sports opportunities for youth within Wales.”
The Underrated Golf tour will kick off in Europe with a 36-hole stroke play event for young players between 12 and 18 years old. The winners of the boys and girls events will earn a spot in the Curry Cup Tour Championship in September, showcasing the talent and potential of young golfers in the region.
Bale’s transition from football to golf has been seamless, and his involvement in Curry’s tour is sure to bring more attention to the sport and inspire young athletes to pursue their passion for golf.
