National League News Update: 3 April 2024
On 3 April 2024, Hartlepool United made a significant appointment by bringing back former manager Ronnie Moore as their chief scout. The 71-year-old, who previously managed the club between 2014 and 2016, has had successful spells at Rotherham and Tranmere as well.
Moving forward to 20 April 2024, Gateshead made a strategic signing by bringing in defender Brandon Haunstrup, 27, on loan from League One side Cambridge United until the end of the season. Haunstrup’s addition will bolster Gateshead’s defense for their final regular National League season game, the play-offs, and the FA Trophy final against Solihull Moors.
Fast forward to 22 April 2024, York City announced the release of head of recruitment David Stockdale from his contract with immediate effect. Stockdale, 38, who also played for the club, departs alongside other players and staff. However, Lenell John-Lewis, Paddy McLaughlin, and Rory Watson have been offered new deals, with Ryan Fallowfield signing a one-year contract.
The latest update on 24 April 2024, saw Boreham Wood releasing full-back Jamal Fyfield, 35, and midfielder Erico Sousa, 29, following their relegation to the National League South. The club has offered new deals to other players to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
As of 25 April 2024, Rochdale is in negotiations with club-record goalscorer Ian Henderson, 39, for a new contract. The club is also in talks with several other players for contract extensions, while releasing some experienced midfielders.
