Rajasthan Royals’ Kumar Sangakkara mentors young cricketers in Jaipur
In a bid to nurture and develop the budding cricketing talent in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Royals recently organized a mentoring session with their director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara and head physiotherapist John Gloster at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The closed-door session, conducted in collaboration with the department of youth affairs and sports, aimed at providing valuable insights and guidance to the young male and female cricketers from the Ranji team, U-19s, and U-23s. The Sri Lankan legend shared his wealth of experience and knowledge on how to navigate the challenges and obstacles that come with a professional cricketing career.
The session saw active participation from promising players like U-23 captain Mukul Choudhary, U-19 captain Sachin Yadav, women’s senior captain Priyanka Sharma, and rising stars like Aditi Chauhan and Siddhi Sharma. Discussions ranged from the importance of mental health and fitness to the significance of character-building through reading books.
Sangakkara, who was appointed as the mentor for the Rajasthan Ranji team earlier this year, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to engage with the young cricketers and help them in their overall development. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the right aspects of the game and finding the right answers to their questions.
The Rajasthan Royals are committed to supporting grassroots development in the state and will continue to collaborate with the department of sports and youth affairs to ensure the accelerated growth of athletes and the enhancement of the sports ecosystem. The mentoring session with Sangakkara and Gloster is just one of the many initiatives planned by the franchise to nurture and groom the next generation of cricketing talent in Rajasthan.
