Jimmies Take Game One with Long Ball Power

The University of Jamestown baseball team showcased their power at the plate in a thrilling doubleheader against Hastings College on Thursday. In the first game of the tripleheader, the Jimmies secured a 4-1 victory over the Broncos with the help of two home runs. Chase Burke blasted a two-run homer, while Jordan Singleton added a solo shot. Jett Nelson also contributed a run by capitalizing on a wild pitch.

Despite Jared Delgado’s solo home run for Hastings College, the Jimmies maintained their lead. The game was not without its tense moments, including a crucial play by Julian Sansores throwing out a runner at home plate.

Pitchers Avery Lietsman, Ethan Petty, and Hayden Brown combined efforts to secure the win for the Jimmies in the first game.

In the second game, the Jimmies continued their power surge with a 6-5 victory over the Broncos. Julian Sansores delivered a grand slam in the first inning to give Jamestown an early lead. Burke and Roebuck also contributed with key hits to secure the win.

The Broncos fought back to tie the game, but Roebuck’s solo home run in the fifth inning proved to be the difference-maker. Hayden Brown closed out the game with a save, sealing the doubleheader sweep for the Jimmies.
