Zoom Diallo recommits to Washington men’s basketball team after initial doubts
Zoom Diallo, the highly touted 6-foot-4 point guard, has reportedly recommitted to the Washington men’s basketball team after briefly considering other options. The four-star prospect, who led Curtis High to back-to-back Class 4A state titles, initially pledged to play for the Huskies in December. However, when coach Mike Hopkins was replaced by Danny Sprinkle, Diallo had doubts about his decision.
In an interview with 247Sports, Diallo admitted that he was very close to choosing another school but ultimately decided to trust his gut and stick with Washington. The recruiting process was stressful for Diallo, who received interest from multiple schools, but he ultimately made the decision on his own terms.
This recommitment is a significant win for Coach Sprinkle, who has also secured commitments from Rice guard Mekhi Mason and Butler guard DJ Davis. Diallo, ranked as the eighth-highest prospect to commit to UW according to 247Sports, brings a wealth of talent and experience to the team.
After playing at Prolific Prep in Napa, California, last year, Diallo’s ranking among recruiting services had dropped slightly. However, he remains a top prospect and a valuable addition to the Huskies’ roster.
“I trusted my gut, trusted my work,” Diallo said in the interview. “I knew it was going to be Washington three or four days ago, and I just continued to sleep on it. I appreciate all the schools that recruited me, but ultimately, I had to make the decision that was best for me.”
With Diallo back on board, Washington fans can look forward to seeing his skills on the court and the impact he will have on the team’s success in the upcoming season.
