Indian Athletes Shine in Men’s and Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase Events at Asian U20 Athletics Championships
Indian athletes showcased their dominance in the men’s and women’s 3,000m steeplechase events at the 21st Asian U20 Athletics Championships in Dubai, adding three gold medals to their tally on the second day of competitions.
Ekta Dey impressed in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, clinching the gold with a time of 10:31.92 seconds. On the other hand, Ranvir Singh emerged victorious in the men’s competition, securing the gold medal in 9:22.62 seconds. Their outstanding performances contributed to India’s success at the championships.
Earlier in the day, Anurag Singh Kaler set the tone by winning gold in the men’s shot-put event. The Indian athletes continued their winning streak, claiming a total of seven medals on Thursday.
Race walker Aarti kicked off the morning session by securing a hard-fought bronze medal in the women’s 10,000m event. Her impressive time of 47:45.33 seconds not only earned her a spot on the podium but also surpassed the qualification time for the World U20 Athletics Championships.
The throwers also made a significant impact, adding three more medals to India’s tally. Anurag Singh Kaler showcased his skills in the shot put, battling with South Korean Park Sihoon for the gold. Kaler’s gold-winning throw of 19.23m ultimately secured the top spot, while Park Sihoon settled for silver.
In addition to Kaler’s success, Amanat Kamboj and Aman Choudhary contributed to India’s medal haul by winning silver and bronze, respectively, in their respective events.
