Dominant Keighley Cougars cruise to victory over Newcastle Thunder

The Keighley Cougars put on a dominant display as they thrashed the Newcastle Thunder in a one-sided affair that saw the visitors remain unbeaten in League 1. From the very start, it was clear that there would only be one winner in this clash between the rock-bottom hosts and the high-flying Cougars.

Ben Dean, Junior Nuu, and Mitch Revell all made their League 1 debut for the Cougars, and they wasted no time in making an impact. Mark Ioane set up Ellis Robson for the opening try, with Jack Miller adding the extras. Aaron Brown and Josh Lynam also got on the scoresheet, with Billy Walkley impressing with a three-try haul.

The Cougars continued to pile on the points in the second half, with Jordan Schofield, Adam Ryder, and Brandon Pickersgill all crossing the whitewash. Despite a brief fightback from the Thunder, the Cougars were relentless in their attack, with Matt Bailey and Junior Sa’u also getting in on the scoring action.

The comprehensive victory sets the Cougars up nicely for a tough test against Rochdale Hornets in their next fixture. With Oldham hot on their heels in the league standings, the Cougars will be looking to maintain their two-point lead at the top of the table with another strong performance.

Fans can expect more thrilling action from the Cougars as they continue their unbeaten run in League 1. For more sports photography from the game, be sure to check out Ben Challis’ work on Facebook.
