ETSU Women’s Golf Earns No. 11 Seed in NCAA Regional Tournament

The ETSU women’s golf team is gearing up for their first appearance in the NCAA Regional Round since 2021, and they couldn’t be more excited. After winning the SoCon championship last week, the Lady Bucs earned an automatic bid into the tournament and were revealed as the No. 11 seed in the Auburn Regional during Wednesday’s selection show.

For senior Grace Chin, this opportunity is especially meaningful after the disappointment of the canceled 2021 regional due to inclement weather. “To go to regionals again my senior year, it will be a great opportunity for us to show what we have,” Chin said.

Head coach Stefanie Shelton is also eager to lead her team into the postseason, noting the strong bond and confidence they have built after their recent tournament win. “The girls are in a great mindset,” Shelton said. “They’re motivated and ready to compete.”

One of the team’s veterans, Sophie Bert, emphasized the importance of maintaining their focus and momentum heading into the regional tournament. “Not see it as ‘OK, we won conference.’ To put that aside for now and keep going the way that we’ve been,” Bert said.

The Lady Bucs will begin play at the Auburn University Club on Monday, May 6, where they will look to continue their success and make a statement as the underdog in the competition. With their eyes set on advancing to the NCAA Tournament, ETSU women’s golf is ready to showcase their talent and determination on the regional stage.
