Stony Brook Seawolves Sweep Towson Tigers with Raab’s Strong Pitching Performance
Stony Brook Seawolves’ Pitcher JT Raab Dominates Towson in Weekend Sweep
Pitcher JT Raab put on a pitching clinic as he fanned seven Towson hitters over nine innings of work to lead the Stony Brook Seawolves to a 4-3 victory over the Tigers on April 21 at Joe Nathan Field, securing the weekend sweep.
Raab, who improved his record to 4-1, was in top form as he tossed nine innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits and walking none for Stony Brook (20-17, 9-6). His dominant performance on the mound set the tone for the Seawolves’ victory.
On the offensive side, the Seawolves were led by Johnny Pilla, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Ryan Micheli, Cam Santerre, and Erik Paulsen also contributed with RBIs in the win.
Raab started strong, striking out three of the first four batters he faced in the fourth inning. Despite falling behind early, Stony Brook responded with a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1. The Seawolves then took the lead in the fifth inning, scoring two runs off Towson pitching.
Towson managed to narrow the lead, but Stony Brook extended their advantage to 4-2 in the seventh inning. Raab continued to dominate on the mound, sitting down all Tigers in order in the eighth inning and holding on for the complete-game victory.
The Seawolves will look to carry their momentum into their next game against Manhattan on April 23. Stay tuned for more updates on Stony Brook’s impressive performance on the diamond.
