Virender Sehwag reveals Sky Sports couldn’t afford his commentary services
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recently revealed an interesting anecdote about his potential stint as a commentator with Sky Sports. The British broadcaster had expressed interest in having Sehwag join their cricket commentary team, but the deal fell through due to financial reasons.
During a conversation on the YouTube podcast Club Prairie Fire, Sehwag shared that Sky Sports had approached him with an offer, to which he responded with a price of £10,000 a day. However, the broadcaster ultimately admitted that they could not afford his services, leading to the deal not materializing.
Sehwag’s witty banter was also on display during the podcast, as he jokingly trolled former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist when asked about Indian players participating in other T20 leagues. Sehwag humorously stated that Indian players are too rich to play in other leagues in “poor countries.”
The former opener also reminisced about turning down an offer from the Big Bash League in the past, citing the amount offered as insufficient. Sehwag humorously mentioned that the proposed $100,000 fee was not enough for him, as he could spend that amount on his holidays or even a single night’s bill.
Sehwag’s candid revelations and humorous remarks have once again endeared him to cricket fans worldwide. While his potential stint as a commentator with Sky Sports did not come to fruition, fans can still enjoy his insights and humor through various platforms, including podcasts and social media.
