English Amateur Star Kris Kim to Make PGA Tour Debut at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson
English amateur star Kris Kim is set to make his PGA Tour debut at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, putting his GCSE revision on hold for a different kind of examination. The 16-year-old, who impressed with an unbeaten performance at the Junior Ryder Cup last year, has been granted a sponsor’s exemption to compete at TPC Craig Ranch from May 2-5.
Kim’s remarkable 2023 season included victories in the Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys’ Individual Championship, and the McGregor Trophy. Now, he will have the opportunity to test his skills against some of the biggest names in golf on the PGA Tour.
“I’m so excited to tee it up in Texas,” Kim expressed. “It’s what you work towards all the time and it’s an amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to play in front of big crowds again and take on this challenge.”
Despite the distraction the tournament may pose to his GCSE preparation, Kim remains focused on the task at hand. His mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, a former LPGA Tour competitor, has been a source of inspiration and guidance for Kim as he navigates the world of professional golf.
With high hopes of making the cut and gaining valuable experience, Kim is eager to showcase his talent on the PGA Tour stage. Watch out for this young prodigy as he takes on the challenge of competing against the best in the game.
